Low-noise wind tunnel test facilities
These measurement facilities consist of a small-size, low-turbulence wind tunnel, in which noise generated by fans, ducts, and other components is nearly completely silenced, and an anechoic chamber for measuring noise. They enable the flow around a target object and generated noise to be measured simultaneously. The test section of the wind tunnel measures 500 mm (H) × 500 mm (W) × 1750 mm (L), and maximum wind velocity is 50 m/s (180 km/h). The acoustic noise level at a wind velocity of 40 m/s is under 56 dB (A). In addition to measuring noise, these facilities can be used to measure air flow using diverse equipment such as a laser flowmeter and hot-wire airflow meter as well as 3D traverse equipment for use with pitot tubes, a turntable equipped with a 3-axis load cell, and a static-pressure fluctuation probe.
